Role: Owner / Art Director / Content Creator
Story:
Soy yo designs began as a creative outlet from my corporate design job. Finding a lack of opportunities to be creative, Soy Yo allowed for my mind to wander. It is a place where I can create content and products that have meaning and joy for me. I got tired of creating for demographics in which, I as a Latina, is excluded and/or a second thought. I wanted a space where the demographic was ME!
Soy Yo is:
A brand of brown pride. Creating content that inspires, embraces, and accepts all shapes sizes, and sexes of who we are as a community. Soy Yo is for everyone that sees themselves in our creations.
Process: I began the branding with the logo which was inspired by hand-painted signage I saw when visiting Mexico and other Latin American countries. The vibrant red represents my passion for design and love for my culture. All the products I design have ties to Latin American music, art, and spirituality. This passion project is a way for me to reconnect to my roots and create space for my community.
Social Media Collaboration: The brand's social media channels are a collaboration project between me and a good friend. We work together to plan and create content that resonates with our target audience.
